Anne Fontaine Brought Brazilian Style to Boston
A Boston Fashion Week 2016 highlight was the esteemed Brazilin born designer Anne Fontaine showing her Fall-Winter 2016 collection at the Four Seasons Hotel in the Back Bay.
The night began with the cities top glitterati gathered in a polished ball room inside the hotel for a cocktail hour that came to a close with welcoming remarks by Amanda Blynn, the glamorous manager of the Boston store. Amanda also thanked attendees as a portion of the show’s proceeds were to be donated to The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America New England Chapter, a 501c3 charity.
The collection began with Fontaine’s classic white blouses; the Alizea piece had a ruffled old world royal appeal. Blouses were paired with modern leather looks and in a Scene&Style favorite, the Adja skirt. The structured pants and a Boston specific heeled boot were also shown. Feminine yet tailored jackets showcased Fontaine’s Brazilian flair for fall. As the show continued, winter jackets made their debut in a chic white and black zig zag Arla piece alongside an eye catching Awena poncho in a honey comb pattern.
Fontaine's focus on romanticism bloomed in a portion of the collection that featured breath taking stitching in ruby shade velvet that was applied in multiple patterns over a solid black base dress. Closing out the collection were seductive and luxurious furs, silk, suede, and butter soft leathers paired with jackets, little black dresses, leggings, and cocktail attire.
Her Fall-Winter presentation featured strong themes of retro-graphic, dark romanticism, and the house signature of playing with masculine/feminine to create pieces for the most discerning women. Versatility was at the heart of the collection with creative transparency and flattering silhouettes. Inspired use of unique collars continues to be her signature touch, but the shoes, bags, and other accessories are equally noteworthy.
The evening ended with Anne Fontaine making a loop with her models down the runway where the fashionistas in attendance responded with a very enthusiastic applause. The designer absolutely glowed; you would never know she had just arrived in Boston from Paris that very day.
