Summer 2017 Swim Suit Trends
What time is it? Summertime! Well… almost. Are your one pieces and bikinis from last year just not going to cut it for 2017? Then it IS time to get your bikini body ready to hit the mall. You can expect high neck and wrap around swim tops, high leg bottoms, plunging necklines, and straps everywhere. In terms of swimwear, Miami Swim Week is the foremost authority on what’s hot and what’s not. The high neck swimsuit dominated the runway appearing over and over in crochet, mesh, and prints.
Wrap around styles followed suit, crisscrossing in front and securing in back on both bikinis and one pieces. Brands such as HAH (Hot as Hell), Cirone Swim, and Love and Lemons debuted slinky bottoms that were so high cut they deemed themselves “frongs”. In case you’re not hip with the lingo, a frong is a swimsuit so high cut that it’s almost a front thong, hence the name. To contrast some of the more demure top styles, designers showcased cleavage baring suits, some plummeting almost to the belly button. Pushing barriers even further, some designers paired the deep neckline with the high leg to create a few very daring looks. Strap detailing on bikinis and one pieces was also a common thread among the designs whether it was a caged two piece or just decorative bands.
Where can I get these amazing swimsuits, you ask? Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom, and Topshop are your go-to spots to snag some of the hottest styles. Their inventory will embody the trends from Miami but will prove to be a little more wearable for your upcoming days on the beach.
