Hajjar Ruled the Runway Once Again

Fashion is an expression, a way to tell a story without speaking. Legendry Designer Denise Hajjar gave the city a novel from her timeless tale of style. Hajjar poured her heart into Boston Fashion Week with producing 54 looks including her fall collection.

The event was held at the Intercontinental Boston which is host to her boutique. The evening began with rows of guests streaming from the hotel entrance right down to the Rumba lounge getting into the mood with music from DJ Denise LaCarubba.

Hajjar is a solid professional and never keeps a crowd waiting as the show started right on time. Models began to command attention with their flawless walk and queued performance. As for the fashion; Hajjar’s classic look of pattered wrap dress in multiple options flooded the scene. Ferrari red suit jackets, fur galore from head pieces to funky vests. Full length flowing dresses, chic everyday outfits making noise in the office, seasonal green snakeskin leather skirts, simple yet flattering white tops. Dozens of fall jackets from faux fur trims to multidimensional patterns, black cocktail numbers, bold jewelry paired from SharynAndCO also handbags from Andrea Valentini. Even comfortable evening wear, off the shoulder sweaters, baby pink power suits to straight up sexy beaded minis. With 54 looks hitting the runway Hajjar made a statement being her boutique has it all!

Hajjar is known for her celebrity line up of models and the evening ended with a special tribute to the glittering smile that had stunned her runway for decades, the late Linda Cole Petrosian. Following was a jammed packed after party held in her boutique with light bites and plenty of shopping.

Scene&Style was able to catch up with the famed designer who expressed her focus for the show. “This time I decided to show a collection of clothes and accessories based on how I would like to see women dress. I showed looks and trends full of color, texture and details. Whether it’s clothing or accessories. EVERYTHING will be put together so that the audience can also have it in their wardrobes.”

Boston born and raised, Denise Hajjar inherited her design interest and talent from her grandmother, who was also a designer in Damascus, Syria. Her grandfather, who was from Beirut, was a pattern-maker and owned a dress factory in Boston. After graduating from The School of Fashion Design, Denise decided to stay close to her roots and start her business in Boston. Now in her 30th year, Denise has established herself as a top designer, having sold her designs nationally to department stores, specialty boutiques and clients worldwide. She is very proud that all her clothes are cut and sewn in Massachusetts.

Denise is also the creator and founder of the “Big Dreams Start Small” event to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She fervently supports the research, treatment and commitment of the medical teams at the hospital, knowing that St. Jude is a “beacon of light in a parent’s darkest night.” Denise lives by her philosophy: “Giving back should be the rule, not the exception.”

Denise’s boutique currently resides in the Intercontinental Boston Hotel located at 510 Atlantic Ave Suite A, Boston and can be reached at (617) 266-2296.
