Focused Fashion for the Everyday Warrior

The annual holiday Excessive Fashion Show by Joe Malaika was held at the A Loft Seaport Hotel. Each year Malaika highlights magnificent high end designs, this collection was focused on glamour for the everyday warrior and proceeds benefitting the A Leg Forever Charitable Foundation.

The evening opened with honor. Artist and songwriter Taylor Deneen notable for working with Missy Eliiot, The Eagles set the tone with an incredible rendition of the star spangled banner.

The first set of looks from Malaika were donned by leg amputees and Boston Marathon Survivors. The pieces were classic from the designer tailored with vibrant color, strategic cuts with unique flair.

Following was intermission. Guests can always expect first class entertainment at the yearly runway presentation. On the stage in between each set of looks from the designer were saxophonist Andie Sax, siblings Ester and Ezekiel Mutesasira and Taylor Deneen.

A new interactive spin to the production was a live auction of charitable treasures. The annual Excessive Fashion Show always has a principle to support. This year was a full focus on the A Leg Forever Foundation.

Host of the evening Channel 10 Boston news anchor and professional models took center stage to give attendees the opportunity to bid on authentic artwork from the Congo in a live auction that created honorable banter for a cause adding a few extra thousand to the pot!

Ending the extravaganza was the last set of looks showing bright pastels and cooling blues from Maliaka. The eye popping colors, sharp cuts, with signature sequin’s defined couture, designed specifically for amputees and honored everyday warriors with the opportunity to feel the glam!

Closing the evening were heart felt words of gratitude from a mother and CEO of the foundation. Malaika also took the stage and expressed his experience in designing a way he had never. The event was a success and arguably the best show Malaika had ever produced. Class from start to finish.

A Leg Forever Charitable Foundation is a nonprofit charitable foundation established by Liz Norden, Mother of JP and Paul Norden, Boston Marathon Survivors who each lost a leg in the bombings of April 15, 2013. The mission of this foundation is to "pay it forward", by assisting amputees (Massachusetts residents only) who lost limbs under tragic circumstances just as the Norden family was helped in their time of need.
